Building and maintaining friendships are an important aspect to a rewarding college experience

The Big Picture:

A poll by Elon University demonstrates the importance of friendships during college years. Students indicated that that friendships made their college experience “very rewarding.” In regard to overall college experience:

  • College graduates were more likely to be satisfied with their investment in college with the presence of more friends.
  • 87% of respondents indicated that their relationship with their closest college friend was “very” or “extremely” important.
  • When compared to having no close college friends, the majority of college students with more than 10 friends rated their college experience the highest.

Why This Matters to You:

Although it can be easy to become consumed with college-related work, college students should set aside time in their schedules for friendships to experience the most rewarding college years.
